Evening Intro to Blacksmithing

$150.00

In this three-week spreads out our intro to blacksmithing workshop, allowing you to come to class in the evening after your responsibilities.

Participants will learn the basics of starting and managing a coal forge fire to achieve optimum working temperatures. Hammer and anvil use to perform the basic techniques of drawing out, tapering, hot cutting, upsetting, bending, and curling will be covered. Students will develop the skills and confidence to work independently on basic blacksmithing projects suggested by the instructor. These skills can inform blade-smithing, but please take note this is not a bladesmithing workshop.

Students must wear closed-toed shoes, have hair tied, a hat or bandana (recommended), and long pants. Wear natural fibered clothing (cotton, wool, etc) because synthetic fabrics have a tendency to catch fire and melt on the skin.
