1 Day Intro to Cyanotype w/ Jade Miner

$140.00

In this 3-hour workshop, students will learn standard and experimental techniques in the printmaking medium Cyanotype using the sun and a UV exposure unit. Due to the outdoor nature of the workshop, we set a rain date of July 14.

Participants will learn to learn both wet and dry exposure techniques and experiment with a number of additives for different effects. The nontoxic printing process dates back to 1842 when they were used to replicate technical drawings (the origin of the blueprint ). Today, students can utilize cut paper, foraged botanicals, or photo negatives to expose images on their surface.

Feel free to bring your own material to expose and experiment with (i.e. objects, images, fresh or dried plant matter- see through items like bubble wrap or glass bottles can be interesting). Have something you want to print on? You can easily cyanotype paper, wood or white fabric (must be natural fiber). Please email j.miner@salemartworks.org with any questions about bringing items to expose or print on.

Prints need to dry for 24 hours before bringing home. Return to SAW office weekdays for pickup or SAW will ship to you at cost.
