About the Instructor:
Heather Palecek is an analogue photographer whose work lies in the intersection of historical photographic processes and the natural world. Specializing in pinhole photography, lumen printing, cyanotype, and mixed-media camera-less techniques, she pushes the boundaries of these historical methods in innovative ways, often creating art in collaboration with the rhythms of the natural world. Central to her work is an exploration of a variety of the complex relationships humans have with nature, including their connection to climate change. Through her art, Heather invites viewers to think about their own relationship with Mother Nature, encouraging a deeper mindfulness toward environmental stewardship.
Palecek holds a degree in Fine Art Education and Photography from Montclair State University. Since 2010 she has been a dedicated high school photography educator in New Jersey, and she also teaches a variety of immersive workshops on alternative and historical photographic processes throughout the region. As the leader of the NJ Pinhole Club, she fosters a vibrant community of photographers. Her award-winning work has been exhibited locally and internationally.
